What we liked
- + Old Ironsides is an iconic American ship with lasting display appeal
- + Plastic hull avoids the planking skills that wooden ship kits require
- + Rigging practice here prepares you for more demanding sailing kits
Trade-offs
- - Rigging the masts is slow and needs patience and fine tweezers
- - Vintage tooling looks simpler up close than modern plastic ships
