What we liked
- + Small dinghy is a great first step before full-rigged ships
- + Midwest is a long-standing American maker of wood kits
- + Fewer parts means you can finish it over a few evenings
Trade-offs
- - Simple boat lacks the drama of multi-masted sailing ships
- - Needs wood glue, clamps and finishing supplies of your own
