Model rocket kits split into two camps: flying rockets that launch on solid engines and return by parachute, and static scale kits of real launch vehicles like the Saturn V for display. Both appeal to scale modelers who enjoy precision assembly, and flying kits add the thrill of a launch day. Skill levels run from ready-to-fly starters to complex multi-stage builds. When choosing, check the recommended engine class and expected altitude, the recovery system, body tube and fin material quality, and for display kits, the accuracy of panel detail and markings. This guide covers rocket kits for first launches, club flyers, and shelf-worthy scale replicas of spaceflight history.
